About Us
The Illinois Industrial Energy Consumers (IIEC) represents the interests of its Illinois-based members before regulatory bodies—including the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC)—as well as state and federal agencies, courts, and legislative institutions. IIEC also promotes informed dialogue on key energy-related issues and developments affecting its members.
Principles
-
Competition in the furnishing of electric, gas and water utility services should be encouraged and enhanced wherever practicable

-
Competitive service rates should be established by a free market not subject to manipulation by any participant or participants, including legislative mandates or subsidies

-
IIEC will be a source of credible information and sound policy advocacy on Energy issues before the Illinois Commerce Commission, the Illinois General Assembly, applicable Regional Transmission Organizations, including, as appropriate, participation and any other applicable legislative or regulatory body or trade association

-
Illinois’ regulated utilities should provide reliable, dependable, utility services on a least reasonable cost, non-discriminatory basis with a published tariff where costs assigned to each customer class are based on cost of service and cross-subsidies are minimized, consistent with sound rate design policies

-
Regulated utilities should have an opportunity to recover their prudent and reasonable operating costs and to earn a fair rate of return on those assets associated with providing tariffed utility service

-
Utility rates/costs should reflect efficient operations

-
State and federal regulatory processes must be responsible and timely

-
Administrative, legislative and regulatory bodies must actively pursue policies that preserve the existing industrial and economic base and related employment, and promote further economic growth in the State of Illinois.
